Having trouble checking your company registration number online? This blog may be of help to you. In the course of the registration process, the ROC assigns companies a Unique Company Registration Number (CRN). The CIN and CRN are often confused by people. CRNs are completely different from corporate identity numbers. I understand the significance of company registration numbers before checking CRNs.
Company Registration Number: what is it?
At the time of incorporation, the ROC assigns companies a 6-digit Company Registration Number (CRN).
Difference Between CRN and CIN
Compared to CRNs, CINs have considerable differences. The two are fundamentally different in three ways. Here are some examples:
- The company number consists of six digits, whereas the company identification number has 21 digits.
- The CRN consists only of alphanumeric characters, while the CIN consists only of numbers.
- A company’s registration number can only be checked on MCA’s web portal. CINs, however, are sent together with certificates of incorporation by the ROC.
On the MCA portal, the following steps can be followed to check a company’s registration number
Upon receiving your Certificate of Incorporation and submitting the SPICe form, you will be able to check your online company registration number.
Checking the registration number takes only four steps. Here are some examples:
Step 1: Open the MCA website
MCA’s services can be found on the website of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs[1].
Step 2: Click on ‘View Company or LLP Master Data’
If you click on ‘View Company or LLP Master Data’ in the MCA services, you will be redirected to another page.
Step 3: Enter your company’s CIN
Enter the company’s CIN, FCRN, LLPIN, or FLLPIN. Click the submit button after entering the captcha code.
Step 4: Company’s master data will appear
The company’s master data will appear when you click the submit button. There you can find company registration numbers.
Conclusion
Using the registration number of a company is an easy way to check its registration status. The only thing you need to do is visit the MCA portal and fill out the required information. Keep up with MCAs as well.
